Trendy Functional and Contemporary Home

Dark draperies and soft rugs, black copper lamps and exposed concrete, vast classic soft-sittings supplemented by handmade ceramics and beautiful dark wood – this, in a nutshell, is the new project of the Ukrainian NOTT Design Studio. Very much in pace with the latest trends in coloring and textures that were exhibit in the last imm Cologne trade fair, the designers turned this extension of an existing summer cottage into trendy, functional and contemporary home.

The warmth of the stylish American oak used in furnishing, cladding and fixtures is perfectly supplemented by the moody, dark colors of furniture and textiles – dark burgundy and gray with an occasional glitter of Tom Dixon’s copper lamps and beautiful art objects ( most of which – a ceramics work by Sergiy Gorban). Black elements (lamps, tables, decorations) and designers chairs laid on neutral concrete frames bring modern dynamic into the premise and correspond harmoniously with the massive presence of natural wood. The architect used mostly local Ukrainian furniture producers. The massive wooden furniture ensembles that occupy a wall or two (like the wardrobe-wall-shelf in the bedrooms or the kitchen island and oven combination, or the living room TV wall) carry also a spiritual reference to Eastern European 60ts design and architecture. Stylish and warm with dynamic contemporary features this two story family home is magnificent example of unostentatious lux and fashionable moody darkness.
